Alumni
To maintain your recovery, we recommend staying involved in a sober support network. Hemet Valley Recovery Center & Sage Retreat’s alumni network is vast and active. We gather on a weekly basis to enjoy sober fellowship with fellow alumni.
The Benefits of Alumni Involvement After Treatment
After completing an addiction treatment program, it is important for people to find a strong support network. In addition to relying on family and friends, we recommend that HVRC alumni build relationships with other sober people within their community. This can be done through 12-Step meetings or involvement in the Inland Empire Recovering Alumni.
Joining an alumni support network after treatment can help newly sober people to…
- Find accountability in their communities,
- Speak with people who understand their struggles,
- Feel motivated to progress their own recovery,
- Avoid the urge to self-isolate,
- Build a community,
- Volunteer and assist others who are new to sobriety, and
- Stay on track with their treatment plan and aftercare recommendations.
Together, these factors can contribute to reduced relapse rates and improved outcomes.
HVRC and the Inland Empire Recovering Alumni
The Inland Empire Recovering Alumni (IERA) is a fellowship of friends and family coming together in recovery, unity, and service. Our purpose is to support recent and veteran alumni alike in the ongoing process of recovery. We share a common bond, regardless of the nature of our illness or addiction. Thousands of people and their families have attended and benefited from programs at the Hemet Valley Recovery Center since it opened in 2001. A large percentage of alumni stay in touch after they complete treatment.
Each year the IERA continues to advance its mission to serve recovering alcoholics and addicts, their family members, friends, sponsors and the general public. We grow in our recovery through fellowship and camaraderie as we share together in outings, retreats, workshops and holiday events. In addition to our weekly alumni meetings, these activities enable us to gather for mutual support and to truly enjoy sober and safe fellowship. Even a small amount of time together can become part of the stepping stones towards change; a change for a better life.
Our common bond to the spiritual principles suggested by the 12 Steps of our respective programs, show the way to living a fuller and brighter life today, “One Day at a Time,” and giving us strength, guidance, and hope as we rebuild our lives. Our goal as alumni is to continue to make a difference in ongoing and long term recovery. We welcome your involvement and support.
