Testimonials: Stories of Hope
Hemet Valley Recovery Center gave me a safe place to land when I was scared and uncertain. Their holistic approach to healing has given me courage, knowledge, and the tools needed for my ongoing recovery. I have been able to release traumatic experiences and manage chronic pain. The staff and volunteers are kind and supportive. Most have life experiences directly related to the consequences of addiction. I encourage anyone seeking to end their own nightmare to consider Hemet Valley Recovery Center.

Being a part of something bigger than myself… I had no idea what this meant until I went through Hemet Valley Recovery Center. On December 26, 2013 I arrived at the front door of HVRC. I was just a shell of a man, and all I brought with me was the question… Help? They opened their arms to me and I finally felt like I could breathe.
They told me my drug and alcohol abuse was only a symptom from the pain that was buried deep inside my heart. They began to “peel back the layers” of my life, teaching me that it’s ok to show emotion. I thought that would make me look weak, but it only made me stronger.
The staff would have in-depth, one-on-one interactions with me to help me learn more about myself. From the executive director of the facility, to the clinical director, the counselors, the nurses, and even maintenance staff and cafeteria staff. Everyone there taught me how to live a different life and to be ok with myself.
I had no idea what was going to happen when I walked through those doors, but the only word that I can think of that fits is miracle!
Without the love and support from every individual at HVRC, I don’t know where I’d be. Back on the streets, in and out of jail, going through rehab time and time again, or even dead? This was my first time ever asking for help and going through treatment, but something if not everything they did made it my only time.
They helped me learn how to be a father to my son, to love my family, my friends, and everyone around me, but most importantly they taught me how to love myself. Life is beautiful today because my spiritual foundation is set and growing every day. I can only hope and pray that everyone that goes through HVRC can realize how important they are and how beautiful life can be. Hemet Valley Recovery Center, you helped me save my life. I am forever grateful! Thank you!

When I came to HVRC, I was broken into pieces. This place helped me put those pieces back together. My health, my family, friends, spiritual and most important, me. I came from the streets and today I am a productive member of society. All due to HVRC and my hard work.

Hemet Valley Recovery Center has done miracles in my life, and I am now able to return the favor by being a living testimony to other addicts who still suffer from the disease of addiction. Not only are people here amazing, but they genuinely care about your well-being during and after treatment.

The day that I walked through the door here at HVRC was the turning point that saved my life. The once strong, independent, and vivacious woman that I had once been no longer seemed to exist. From the moment I got here, the center enveloped me, giving me the sense of security I needed. The doctors and counselors soon made me aware that they were more than just about treating my alcoholism. I was finding that I could trust again while letting my guard down in groups. I immersed myself in the holistic sessions. I found that the more that I let go, the easier it was to breathe. I found I could have a good time without the use of alcohol.
Today I can honestly say that I have learned to love myself again. I have found my spirituality again and I am embracing it. I am proud of the accomplishments I have made getting myself back to the woman that I thought was lost forever.

When I came to HVRC I wanted to die. I thought I was hopeless. They made me realize that I’m not hopeless and taught me the tools to use to stay sober and how to love myself.

Before coming to HVRC I was a wife and a mother by title only. My life, as I once lived it, has spiraled away from and I became a person I couldn’t recognize anymore. Coming to HVRC saved my life; not just physically, but spiritually as well. I found my soul again. Their amazing compassionate staff helped me discover my authentic self. The process was not only medically educational but holistically soothing as well. Every person and activity from the doctors and counselors, to the art therapy, acupuncture and yoga instruction, was committed to healing the broken pieces of me. Thanks to their help, I gained an insight to myself that I never knew. I learned the importance of abstinence from all mind-altering substances and took the first step into my newly found life. I am grateful today that I can be the wife and mother my family deserves, but more importantly, I have been given a confidence in myself that I never knew. With the knowledge and peace I found here, I can conquer all things.

Before coming to HVRC, my life was spiraling out of control. I lost my job, my house was going into foreclosure and I didn’t know which end was up. While at HVRC, I finally found out who I am, and realized I actually found a spiritual awakening through meditation and prayer. Without HVRC, counselors and employees, I don’t know where I would be or if I would still be alive. I have learned to love myself and be proud of who have become.
Thank you, HVRC, for helping me become the person I am proud of!

Before coming to HVRC I had been going in and out of treatment center consistently for the past 5 years. I was a broken, empty shell of a person who was mentally, emotionally and spiritually bankrupt in every sense. I didn’t know what life was or how to live. I was convinced there was no hope for me and told myself that this place would be just like the rest and there would be nothing that could be done for me.
Checking into the facility, despite my thoughts, was the best decision I could have made for myself. My experience there was like none other. After a week of being there, I knew in my heart it was exactly where I needed to be.
The program that is offered is by far the best I’ve ever been blessed to experience. I was taught about my disease in such an in-depth way that I was finally able to identify with it. HVRC didn’t just teach me how to stop using drugs and alcohol, they taught me how to live and walked me through step by step.
Not only is the HVRC program amazing, the staff is as well. Each and every staff member has had a profound impact on my life and I can honestly say they have all played a crucial role in my recovery. I had never been to a rehab where the staff was so genuine and was so eager to help each and every one of us in any way they could.
I truly believe the love and structured program I received from HVRC saved my life. They have become my family and I am forever grateful for the program and everyone I have met there. Most importantly, I am proud of who I am today.

I need to make it known HVRC saved my life. The staff there is amazing! They helped me look at myself and realize where the problem really was. The chronic pain track helped me realize that most of my physical pain was from emotional pain. The family program also offered me a chance to finally open up with my parents and start a healthy family relationship. Also the transitional program has showed me how to live life sober and that I can have fun. I’ve been sober now over a year and I owe so much thanks to Hemet Valley Recovery Center.
